Le Groupe Unilever, très actif en Israël avec des dizaines de marques (Knorr, Magnum…), a fait son choix. Elle sera britannique. Son siège restera à Londres et sa Bourse principale sera la City. Singulièrement à court de bonnes nouvelles en ce moment, le gouvernement de Boris Johnson a applaudi ce « vote de confiance » en faveur du Royaume Uni.

SELON LE MONDE  : « Il faut bien sûr rester prudent, car cette vieille dame de 50 milliards d’euros de chiffre d’affaires est versatile. En 2018, elle avait fait le choix inverse, en visant Rotterdam. Mais les actionnaires britanniques ont refusé de laisser échapper une telle pépite. Cette fois devrait être la bonne. En dépit du Brexit, la Grande-Bretagne pèse bien plus que le pays des polders. D’ailleurs, la margarine batave (Planta, Fruit d’or…) a été vendue en 2017 au fonds d’investissement américain KKR.

C’est d’ailleurs cette opération qui avait mis en lumière la complexité de la structure binationale du groupe, l’obligeant à une douzaine de transactions différentes pour respecter la nationalité des différentes entités de cette division. Il n’en faut pas plus pour que les analystes entrevoient, derrière le mouvement annoncé jeudi 11 juin, les prémices de grandes et petites opérations. Unilever est un conglomérat où se côtoient les savons Dove, les lessives Skip, les esquimaux Magnum et les soupes Knorr. Sans oublier les « so british » thés Lipton, leaders mondiaux du secteur. Ceux-ci, plutôt en vogue il y a quatre ans, seraient d’ailleurs en tête de liste pour une vente éventuelle. Dans ces métiers de grande consommation, il est de bon ton de faire tourner son portefeuille de produits, en abandonnant ceux dont la croissance chancelle pour se jeter sur les pépites en croissance, à l’heure actuelle du côté du bio, du bien-être et du végétal ».
